A Jewish-Christian Church?! Huh?
Beth Israel Messianic Congregation in Garfield, New Jersey
December 2003
So Beth Israel is the church I was really involved with back in my New Jersey days. We might seem confusing, but our beliefs are fairly simple: Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior of the world to all people. It doesn't matter if you're Jewish, Catholic, Protestant, Buddhist, atheist, etc. Surrendering your life to Jesus and receiving forgiveness of your sins is key to having eternal life. Somehow, the world has forgotten about the "Jewishness" of the gospel. Jesus himself was a Jewish, the entire New Testament was written by Jews and the first believers and followers of Jesus were Jewish. Folks, Yeshua (the Hebrew name for Jesus) really is the King of the Universe, the Hebrew Messiah of the One True Living God, Lord Adonai!
LEFT: The worship is pretty amazing!
RIGHT: In the backdrop is the Star of David with the symbol of a lamb. The lamb symbolizes the ultimate sacrifice Yeshua made in dying for the sins of the world. (John 1:29) Messiah was the ultimate Passover Lamb!

On my December visit, we celebrated Hanukah. It was really special with the candle lights.

Here's some of the lyrics of the songs we sang that night.

  • Alright, a few random pictures...
TOP LEFT: Georgette (in green) and her younger sister.
TOP RIGHT: Barbara and I, another old friend.
BOTTOM LEFT: These four attractive Australian ladies were visiting for the first time. So I gave them each a CG business card and took their picture! ;)
BOTTOM RIGHT: Facing the back of the building.
Beth Israel has a vibrant Hebrew dance ministry. Come to think of it, I used to be involved in it! If only I had my camera back then! :)

  • The words to songs are posted from a projector. Oh guys, the actual church building used to be a Two Guys department store. :)
These are some of the crazy weirdos that go to this church.
I love this wooden sign. There's definitely a rich Jewish flavor at Beth Israel.
This is an awesome place to visit! I highly recommend visiting if you're in the New York/New Jersey area!
