BONANZA, COLORADO! (Old Mining Town in Saguache County) - September 27, 2003
First, here's directions: Take State Highway 285 to the small town of Villa Grove and go west!

Right there are hisotrical signs about the region, particularly the very small town of Villa Grove, Bonanza and the San Luis Valley.

Below are my pictorials of the region:
  • Villa Grove (2002 Bike Trip)
  • San Luis Valley (2002 Bike Trip)
  • Poncha Pass, Villa Grove, SLV (2003 Bike Trip)

  • Bonanza is located on the back side of Hayden Peak (see picture).

Let me tell you, this is one beautiful area!
Amazingly bright yellow aspens were everywhere! :)
There's really just a few houses there that make up the town.
