COLORADO BIKE RIDE! Round Trip From Buena Vista To Granite - April 27, 2006
I begin my round trip from Buena Vista To Granite heading downhill (east) on County Road 306 towards the Buena Vista traffic light. |
Now from Buena Vista, the town of Granite is 17 miles north
on Highway 24, and it's a gradual uphill for much of the way. This spot is known as "The Numbers" - where this
large rocky sloped mountain sweeps into the Arkansas River, creating all sorts of class 4 and class 5 conditions
for kayakers on the river. |
One more shot of The Numbers area from the road. |

Here are some of my photos from this area:

I actually took this shot while riding at about 15 miles per hour on the highway. I'm quite proud of myself! I have an entire page dedicated to bighorn sheep by the way. ;) |
Approaching Granite, I got this shot of Mt. Elbert, an imposing "14er" that is Colorado's tallest mountain. |
I stopped at the Granite General Store to say "hi" and pick up an extra bottle of Gatorade. Granite has a year-round population of just nine people! |
On the way back, I snapped a shot of this mountain that stands outside of Clear Creek Canyon. |
I whizzed back to Buena Vista, being that it was mainly downhill for much of the way. Here's a shot of Mt. Princeton a few miles north of town. By the way, I'd like to invite you to visit my web site dedicated to Mt. Princeton photography: www.MtPrinceton.org. Check it out! :) |

One last shot of me close to home. And yes, this time I rubbed in my sunscreen a lot better! :p) A 38 mile ride round trip. |
