CASTLEWOOD CANYON! - Pictures Of My Visit To Castlewood Canyon (Summer 2005)
In the summer of 2005, I visited the Castlewood Canyon State Park in southern Douglas County. It is located just off of State Highway 83, south of Franktown. |
This is definitely a very interesting state park on the front range. Cherry Creek runs through the canyon and is quite impressive, from the standpoint that these large sandstone cliffs and rock outcroppings sit amidst eastern Colorado plains. |
There are quite a few trails inside and above the canyon. If you live in the Denver or Colorado Springs area, this would be a comparatively easy hike or nice place to picnic on the front range. (You are also welcome to visit my Colorado Springs Hikes page.) |

Here are some other interesting pages on Colorado's Front Range: Downtown Denver Denver Butterfly Pavilion (Westminster) Devil's Head Lookout Tower Colorado Springs Airport Denver Botanic Gardens |
There are actually some prickly pear cacti around Castlewood Canyon and I submitted this photo to CactusLovers.com. Ha ha ha! |
On the way back to Colorado Springs (where I was living at the time), I took this shot of Pikes Peak on Highway 83. |
