Junker '78 Chevy Truck Fixed on Manitou Roadside!
May 17, 2003
I was riding my bike and taking pictures of Fountain Creek when I came across this truck between the Ute Chief Spring and Rainbow Falls... |
It looked like there was a homeless person living in the truck, but then I realized that it was MY BUDDY MARK O'SHEA! |
It turns out he was working on his 1978 Chevy Truck! |
Mark proudly holds his pliers. By the way, Mark is also featured at Twin Spring and at Spice of Life Cafe! :) |
Look at how beat-up the dashboard is! :P |
So the problem was Mark's truck wouldn't start... |
...and that's the view under the hood. YEESH! |
So as the poor guy was working under the hood, I began taking all sorts of pictures of his truck! |

Ooooooo! It says Big 10!
What does that mean? |
Then this uh, semi-intoxicated dude came by and was looking at the truck as Mark worked on it. |
Mark remained determined to figure out what was wrong. He even needed to pull out the official truck manual! (My bike is in the background!) |
He kept trying to start it, but with no luck! |
Go Mark Go! You can do it, buddy! |
Then I had a sudden urge to beat on his truck door. It's become a tradition of sorts for me to do that to beater trucks! ;) |
A few minutes later, EUREKA!, Mark figured it out. It was the ignition coil that he needed to retighten! |
Mark knew he had fixed the problem and boy was he happy! |
There he is, driving off into the sunset.
Oh! I think that truck model is the same as the piece-of-crap truck that Eva and I spotted in Teller County! :) |
