Boki Evans Announces Bob Hopper as Campaign Manager
March 30, 2002
MANITOU SPRINGS, CO --
Hair Consultant candidate Boki Evans announced
the hiring of Bob Hoffer, a Manitou Springs local with
long hair as manager
and chief strategist of his campaign.
"I think you're the candidate for this job." Hoffer told Boki, as a small
crowd of onlookers observed the announcement at
Spice of Life Café, the
campaign headquarters for the Evans campaign.
Hoffer will be expected to help Boki devise a successful strategy in winning
the electoral college vote - the
ultimate decider of the winner in
the upcoming April election.
Although last week's poll indicated Boki has an impressive lead over rival
candidate Donna Ward and the dark horse
Kendra Morrell, Boki
is concerned about the possibility that just like Al Gore in 2000,
he might win the popular vote but lose the electoral college vote.
After buying an
electoral college map for $3.95, Evans and Hoffer discussed
the strategic dynamics of the map for nearly an hour.
In that time, Hoffer often became frustrated and rattled questions
to Steve who sat at an adjacent table.
"How come Oklahoma has three votes and New Mexico
has sixteen? This doesn't
make sense." exclaimed Hoffer.
In the end, Hoffer shared his belief that Boki will win
the election and
encourgaed Boki. "You care about (Steve) and that's obvious."
The addition of the long-haired Hoffer to the Evans campaign
stems from Boki's attempt
to appease those who have mocked
him for having a bald head.
In recent weeks, many vocal critics have publicly questioned
whether Boki is qualified to serve as Hair Consultant
and have noted his "appearance problem."
Donna Ward, who placed second in last week's poll, has been working hard at
expanding her voting
base and even obtained the endorsement of Bud Ford Jr., a pillar in the Manitou Springs
community - who happens to have a bald head.
"Well, we've got two politicians here - Boki and Donna - so you got to
expect some of this kind of stuff. They both want to win and they'll
do anything to get elected. I suppose you could reject them both and
vote for Kendra, but that looks like a wasted vote right now." said Steve.
