Candidate Chris Continues Socially Conscious Message!(Promotes Supporting Locally-Owned Businesses Over Corporate Franchises)
March 24, 2004
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Stop buying from large, corporate
franchises and support locally-owned
businesses in your area, says Hair Consultant Candidate
Chris Morton, in a recent press release.
While preparing dinner before his weekly Bible study (that Steve regularly attends),
the socially conscious Christian touted his support
for La Famiglia Pizza, a locally
owned "Mom and Pop" pizzeria on West Uintah Street in Colorado Springs, and encouraged others to follow his lead.
"We support the little guy because the big corporate franchises
have such an unfair advantage ... Also, (La Famiglia's) pizza is way better
than everything else out there." said Chris, who along with his wife are
also boycotting Walmart for "unfair business practices."
"Steve, your followers need to know that I never go to Starbucks either.
I go to Pikes Perk (a popular, locally-owned alternative) in downtown." he said.
Spreading Awareness
Although Chris meets the minimum criteria for being a candidate - that he supports
Steve "ColoradoGuy" Garufi in growing his hair long - the post-graduate student did not utter
a word about Steve's hair.
Yet Chris' fervent desire to increase awareness over
socially conscious issues and his direct
appeal to Ralph Nader voters and the far left, appear to be helping his campaign.
The latest poll revealed Morton's support tripled
in the last two weeks, where he is enjoying 15% of the vote.
"Oooooh! I'm not longer like (Ralph) Nader.
Now I'm more like Ross Perot." said Chris, shortly before the Bible Study began.
Steve (see right photo), who attended the Bible Study and recorded
Morton's quotations, enjoyed the pizza. "Let me tell you, this is good
pizza." said the
Internet personality.
Since choosing to run for Hair Consultant, Chris has been visiting
the web site more frequently and criticized the negative campaigning of his two opponents, Colorado Springs resident Phil McWilliams and California Financial Analyst Laura "Laloo" Johnson.
"She said he was jealous of Steve's hair. Then he called her a phony.
Then she called him a punk. When will the insanity end? Vote Morton!" wrote Chris, in an e-mail the next day.
