JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA - The Hair Consultant election just got even nastier folks!

This afternoon, Hair Consultant candidate "Florida Pete" Harrison (right photo) was mocked and criticized for foolishly voting for Mike Dukakis, the liberal governor from Massachusetts who unsuccessfully ran for President in 1988.

"I'm honestly shocked and surprised to hear that." said Catherine in Buena Vista, Colorado, "What in the world was he thinking?"

"Pete does not have a clue about hair and obviously doesn't have a clue about good politics." wrote Terry in Denver, "Pete should be embarrassed for voting for Dukakis!!! He has no business being your Hair Consultant!!!"

Florida Pete Backpeddles From Embarrassing News

In a written statement, Florida Pete explained why he voted for Mike Dukakis as a young adult with little life experience, but claimed he has changed his views.

"I have atoned for my careless thinking since 1988. I actually liked Reagan during his presidency but thought Bush 41 was weak in comparison. I was also very naive and consider myself apolitical at that time, not really following the news closely and being swayed easily by the media's opinion polls so close to an election.

I have been enlightened since those days of mispent voting and have seen the errors of my ways. I live in Florida now where we rarely make voting mistakes."

Even Scott Baker in Colorado Springs, a fanatical Florida Pete supporter, appeared disturbed by the news: "Did (Pete) REALLY vote for Mikey? Because if he did....I might have to rethink my support." wrote Scott, " All I can see in my minds eye now is Dukakis in the tank."

There is plenty of irony to this embarrassing revelation about Florida Pete, because in last year's election, Pete called Ben "One With The Tao" Paulson (the eventual winner) a "horse's ass" for voting for John Kerry in 2004.

"I'm sure all of Pete's air force buddies are not going to be happy with this." stated Steve.

"In Pete's defense, he has been a voice of reason on the Politics Forum, and has advocated for common sense conservative themes such as a strong national defense, free markets and capitalism, and individual responsibility." added Steve.

On top of voting for Mike Dukakis, Florida Pete has had difficulty "shaking off" the image that he is a liberal without a backbone. Some have compared Florida Pete to Al Gore, because he won the popular vote, but lost the electoral vote in last year's Hair Consultant election. Also, Steve blasted Pete as a "Ted Kennedy of baseball fans" for his whinning about successful sports franchises like the New York Yankees.
