JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA -- "Florida Pete" Harrison, a restaurant furniture installer and restorer of antique furniture, has announced his candidacy for Hair Consultant in the upcoming mid-April 2006 election.

A regular visitor of this web site and a source of so much fun on the ColoradoGuy forums (he's known simply as "Florida Pete"), Pete is expected to be a popular and formidable candidate for Hair Consultant, especially with Florida having 38 electoral college votes, a state many expect him to carry easily.

"It is the duty of all campaigners to provide nurturing of Steve's follicles after a full year of 'Do Nothing' neglect." wrote Pete, in his press release.

Florida Pete has quite a resume to show to voters. He has advertised his business on this web site for over a year, he runs the ColoradoGuy Daily Trivia Game and also serves as a moderator on the forums.

Of course, Florida Pete is best known for his run for Hair Consultant in 2005 and his fun and whimsical campaign tactics was the source of quite a bit of laughter for viewers. Pete carried a strong campaign message of challenging Steve with various health and diet-related issues as he grows his hair out, and he even wrote a poem about this web site for Steve.

"People love Pete, and he's passionate about being a strong leader for my hair. There's no doubt about that." said Steve, upon learning of Pete's campaign announcement.

In last year's election, Steve broke his pledge to stay neutral during the campaign and endorsed Florida Pete (See sign - adjacent photo). Although Steve insists he will never again endorse a candidate (because of the flack he received), supporters of Pete might remind voters of last year's powerful endorsement.

Pete's second place finish in 2005 was very bittersweet. He actually won the popular vote (37% Pete to 33% Ben), but lost the electoral vote (Ben 251 to 152 Pete) to Ben "One with The Tao" Paulson, who has been serving as Hair Consultant since April 2005. It is, once again, that time of year in which the citizens of the CG community have been called together and asked to elect the best candidate to consult Steve in his most critical moments of hair care and his lack of knowledge thereof. I am stepping forward to do my part as our forefather's & mother's have done in times past, to do my patriotic duty and campaign to fulfill the requirements of public office.

It is the duty of all campaigners to provide nurturing of Steve's follicles after a full year of "Do Nothing" neglect. It is my responsibility to see that a Fabio-like mane on Steve comes to fruition. Chick's dig Fabio and, by osmosis, they'll dig Steve ... because of me.

The position of Hair Consultant was created in October 1998 so that one person could be a coach, advice-giver and encourager for Steve in growing his long, naturally curly hair as long as possible. Since then, the position has changed with the times and now includes the Hair Consultant being a "public figure" on this web site. There have been 14 Hair Consultants in the history of Steve's hair.
