New Mexico Bike Tour! (Taos, NM to Santa Fe, NM) June 4, 2004
Just outside of Taos, three tipis as the sun rises early in the morning. |
You'll go through a scenic canyon where the Rio Grande flows. It's quite like the canyon from Salida, CO to Canon City, CO where the Arkansas River flows. Maybe I'm biased: The Arkansas River canyon is longer, more rugged and more scenic! But don't get me wrong, this one is nice too! ;) |

While I gotcha here, here's my other New Mexico and biking pictorials: Bike: San Luis, CO to Taos, NMBusiness Trip to Albuquerque, NMBike Across Colorado 2003Biking Around Colorado Springs Area |

Espaņola, New Mexico! :) |
A beautiful bridge on the Pojoaque Indian Reservation. |
There were so many roadside monuments like these
throughout northern New Mexico. I did notice a great number of beer
bottles and alcohol-related debris on the sides of the roads I was on.
You might want to be extra careful while driving here at night. Drunk driving appears to be an especially serious problem! |
Arrival at the Santa Fe International Youth Hostel! The people who run this place are really friendly. They have a large public kitchen where they typically make meals all together and socialize. This is a great hostel! |
Uh, here's where my trip ends.
While I had originally planned to bike all the way to Juarez, Mexico,
many factors, including some quite internal, gave me good reason to end
the trip here. At some point, I will hopefully continue
my bike trip from Santa Fe! :)
Here's how I got home:
I shipped my bike back to Manitou Springs through UPS, with these
two awesome women helping greatly, and then I took a Greyhound Bus back to Colorado Springs. (See bus pictures below!) |
Below are random Santa Fe pics!Look at that cactus! :) |
If you're into shopping for southwestern stuff, you'll like this town for sure! |
I love these kinds of outdoor murals. |
Blah blah blah blah! |
Oooooooooh! I just might be tempted to head out to southern Utah in September or October (when it's a little cooler). Stay tuned! ;) |
The Bus Ride Back Home to Colorado June 5, 2004
That's the first time I've ridden a charter bus like that in a long time! :) Oh! Also, I took a picture of my bus ticket! ;) |
Here's the snacks I picked up at the beginning. |
One shot in the mountains between Eagle Nest, NM and Cimarron, NM. |
Okay, so here's a map of New Mexico. As you can see, I only did about 25-30% of the state. I truly hope I can get back sometime and finish up this bike ride ... we'll see! :) |
