RICO, COLORADO! (Elevation 8,827 Feet) - August 2003

Rico, Colorado!
Located between Telluride and Cortez in the Dolores River Valley! |
It's a really small and former mining town with old Victorian buildings ... kind of like Cripple Creek but much more "homey" and personable. |

I got the woman inside the liquor store to pose outside! :) |
Oh! Check this out!
I met this cool local guy named Willie and he let me take a picture of his hat that read, Rico Freakos.
Ha ha ha ha! I love it! :) |
There's a nice cafe and theater on the main road. |
And YUM! I ordered the burrito dinner and it was huge! |
The Rico Post Office! :) |
A nice shot of the Dolores River just outside of town. |

There ain't much on the main drag, but there was a neat shop that had homemade beeswax candles. That's the local Rico dude who makes the candles and check out the label which reads, "Ridiculously long burn times."
No, this guy didn't pay me for this advertisement, but maybe I should have charged him! ;) You can buy candles online at BeesWaxCandles.com. |

The historic courthouse. |
