Skyline Drive in Caņon City! - (A Short & Scenic Drive in Fremont County) - May 2005

Just west of Caņon City on Highway 50, is a very worthwhile
attraction called Skyline Drive, a road with lots of scenic views and history behind it. |

Now just for the record, I actually biked
up there (starting at the Homestead Restauarant
parking lot in Florence), but it's a one-way, single-laned road that has some steep drops
on both sides. Uh, I wouldn't do this drive when there's
snow, sleet, ice, etc. <:-O

Now this is really interesting!
There are
actually some dinosaur tracks that size of a medium
pizza up on the walls. I took photos of the
signs for your enjoyment. |

TOP: The view looking towards Highway 50 going out west,
towards the Royal Gorge, Texas Creek and
Cotopaxi.
BOTTOM: Looking straight out to the right.
With the desertish look and small circular pinions, the view reminds me of
New Mexico. |
