Battle to Name Copier Machine GETS UGLY!
May 15, 2003
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Workplace politics has reared it's ugly head at the
Colorado Springs job site of Steve "ColoradoGuy" Garufi.
Co-workers have become contentious and quite nasty with each other as they debate the proper name for their brand new Canon
Imagerunner 3300 copy machine.
While all agree that the copier deserves a feminine name, nobody can agree on a specific name. Some name ideas are: "Donna," "Matilda," "Bonnie," "Aziza," "Cooper" and "Alejandra."
"I like the name Cooper. We could call it 'Cooper the Copier' or C.C. for short." stated Amy C., who works on the administrative staff.
Steve vehemently disagreed as tempers flaired in the hallway. "I want that copier named Alejandra. It's a beautiful name and it's kind of funny. You people have no sense of humor!"
"You're mean and I don't want to talk to you ... I'm very serious!" exclaimed Melanie H. in disgust, who refused to publicly state her name preference for fear of escalating the argument.
Things have become so contentious that Eva R. (Steve's supervisor) became incensed when Steve pulled out his digital camera with her near the copier machine. "Put that camera away!" she exclaimed, as she turned her back and refused to comment on the name controversy.
To resolve the dispute, the ColoradoGuy.com community is presently voting
on the front page over what to name the copier.
The name with the most votes on Monday morning will become the permanent
name and will be officially announced on this web site.
This is not the first time that a copy machine has made the news on this web site. Over two years ago, Steve's workplace copier broke Lou Gehrig's record of when it printed 2,194 consecutive copies in Littleton, Colorado.
