Donna Ward Wants Her Job Back: Announces Candidacy For Hair Consultant
May 13, 2001
MANITOU SPRINGS, CO -- Donna Ward wants her job back.
Insisting she has always known what's best for Steve's long, naturally
curly hair, former hair consultant Donna Ward announced her candidacy to
recapture the job of Steve's chief executive of his dark locks.
The occasionally controversial resident of Manitou Springs made big news
recently when she publicly criticized Steve's new tied-back pony tail look.
"I took a lot of heat for that, but I've known you for a long time.
I'll always be honest with you with your hair because you're my friend."
said Ward with a strong Texas accent, "I want to see the wild,
long-haired, sexy Steve again."
A devout born-again Christian, Ward pledged to avoid all forms of negative
campaigning and 'trusts God' with the election outcome. Steve discussed the possibility of having a friendly
meeting so Donna could meet DiVito in person.
"I just think you two (Dawnn and Donna) would really hit it
off, but now that you're running against her, this could be
really interesting." Steve said with amusement.
Ward's announcement comes one day after Nadine Peterson of
Littleton announced her candidacy for hair consultant. While DiVito is
expected to announce her re-election campaign soon, Ward and Peterson
are the only two official candidates.
With the districts and corresponding numbers of electoral votes anticipated to be issued soon, Ward is projected to easily carry Manitou Springs and Texas.
If elected, Ward would be the second woman to be hair consultant
for two non-consecutive terms. Ward's previous term lasted from March
to August 1999. Ward's dismissal was caused by the temporary closing
of the office of hair consultant when Steve cut his hair that summer.
Among all six former hair consultants, Ward takes pride in being the
only employee not to be fired.
Immediately after declaring her candidacy, Ward shook hands with
curious onlookers at her press conference.
"I think I might vote for Donna just because she's is cool. But what the
hell is she running for again?" asked Jackie Mitchell of Manitou Springs.
Steve originally met Donna nearly four years ago when Ward owned and
operated Stanley Arbuckle's, a café in Manitou Springs.
"To this day, I still miss that café. It was the best place to hang out
ever!" Garufi exclaimed.
