MANITOU SPRINGS, CO -- Steve "ColoradoGuy" Garufi formally announced his candidacy for the position of "Best Public Fool" in the 2003 Best Of Colorado Springs survey, sponsored by Colorado Springs Independent.

Making his announcement in the kitchen of his Manitou Springs home and wearing one of his favorite long sleeve tie-dye shirts, Steve gave many reasons why he believes he is the best candidate.

"Look, I take crazy pictures of myself, you can follow my horrible dating life and I do stupid things all the time with my camera. How could I not win this category?" Steve reasoned.

Steve is also agreeable towards those who may vote for him out of sheer pity, based on his reputation of having "no life" whatsoever.

Some fellow Manitou Springs residents were anticipating that Steve would run for City Council in the upcoming November 2003 election, because he has been sitting through the God-awful meetings on a weekly basis. Yet insiders believe the Internet personality plans to use the "Best Public Fool" award as a stepping stone for higher positions in public office.
