LOCAL WOMAN DROPS GOURMET DRINK Makes a Nasty, Terrible Spill Throughout Café
April 30, 2002
MANITOU SPRINGS, CO -- A chocolate latte was accidently dropped and spilled near the front
entrance of Spice of Life Café, creating
a large mess and extreme
personal embarrassment for "Edith" (not her real name), the customer who
clumsily dropped her drink.
"Oh my! What a mess!" exclaimed one onlooker, who was among
the 15 employees and patrons who witnessed the nasty spill.
Almost immediately after the spill, café owner Michael A. mopped
up the floor, but not before the ColoradoGuy press took numerous pictures
to document the event for its growing Internet community.
"Oh no. Not the camera …" gasped Edith, a long-time
Manitou Springs resident
who's face appeared blushed. "You aren't going to put this on the web site, are you?"
A frequent customer of the coffee shop, Edith offered no explanation about why
she dropped her gourmet drink and demanded anonymity. In fact, Steve was only
permitted to photograph the back of her head, which displayed her long blonde
hair (see picture).
Although Edith regularly visits this web site and enjoyed seeing her brother
in a recent news article, she was greatly dismayed that any more attention would
be focused on this already embarrassing situation.
Shortly after, some joked and discussed about the possibility
that Edith was having a "blonde moment" when she dropped her
gourmet drink.
Eyewitness Collan Fitzpatrick disagreed. "No, I've seen dippy brunette people.
It was an honest mistake."
Steve Garufi, owner of this web site,
was placing his usual order (a breakfast croissant with bacon and a large coffee)
during the nasty spill.
Feeling bad for Edith, he offered
conciliatory words.
"I thought it was neat how professional and forgiving
Michael was in cleaning up the mess. As for Edith, stuff like that happens.
I just felt bad about how she freaked out when she dropped it."
